As early as I can remember, I have loved being creative - drawing for book reports, making birthday and welcome home cards... even decorating huge banners in high school... both my mom and grandma sewed - I was surrounded with drapery tables and fabrics... this creativity led to a graphic design degree but even then I did not dream that I could have a career with design and textiles... but it was definitely God's Spirit starting to work within me...
About 7-8 years ago I started collecting... leaves, rocks, sticks, flowers, and any elements of nature that had detail in them... 25 cent pieces of jewelry... scanning and photographing them... wouldn't it be great to combine or collage these objects with inspirational quotes and scripture? Over the next couple of years - in-between taking care of our three boys, dogs, horses and freelancing... I would create...
And then... one day... when I was sitting at the computer working with a collage - it was very quiet, very still... there was this revelation that turned on in my head and heart... it was not my voice, it didn't come from around me or above me, it came from deep within, a warming of the soul... "I AM working through you"... it was an understanding that it wasn't about me, it was about Him using me as a vessel to pour out... it was not until that moment in my life that i really BELIEVED that God's Spirit is within and you really can have a personal relationship with Him...
Today, God is leading me, walking beside me, whispering to me... and with the love and support of my husband, Mara Bochart Design was founded to reflect God’s Word in a beautiful way by creating imagery that combines nature, found objects and scripture. All praise and glory to God! |
